How To Annoy Your Users

August 20th, 2008 by Corey Davis

A new machine of mine has a LightScribe enabled DVD drive. In order to use the LightScribe feature, which I have not yet, you need to have the LightScribe control panel software installed. In my opinion LightScribe has violated a major rule: do not annoy the user. While answering an e-mail this morning I was annoyed by this:

lightscribe.bmp

This was not newly installed software. It was pre-installed on the machine since Day 1. Why it picked today to pop this message up I do not know, nor do I know if it will continue to do it, but what I do know is that its going to get it’s butt uninstalled if it continues.
